Welcome to LMcD Glass - “El Muc Dee Glass”

My name is Louise McDonald, I am based in Thatcham, Berkshire and below is my
brief introduction to how I became a stained glass artist.

 

Art has been my passion since childhood, and I also grew up around highly skilled family members with a trade. So following their footsteps when I left school I chose an apprenticeship over studying art as I could learn a hands-on craft and earn a salary at sixteen years old.  

Sadly confidence issues led me to leave my apprenticeship before it's completion, resulting in a number of industry based jobs before establishing my steady corporate career within the Engineering and Construction world.
During that time, I continued attending evening and weekend courses, exploring skills like welding, pottery, life drawing, always trying new things that required manual skills.

I believe sometime around 2013, I discovered stained glass where I attended a three-day class which ignited this lasting passion and lead me to investing in my own workshop, where I have been honing my skills and building confidence ever since.

And here I am, ready and excited to share these skills and make stained glass artwork for you.
